Couple of years ago I get back in but went back to my Broker and just bought 2 LONG TERM Stocks.

Looking to Invest in the Stock Market on my Own with about $5- $10K

Not really talking about "Day Trading" Just buying or selling my own Stock picks
They could become Long Term like the 3 stocks that I currently own.. But then again I could get rid of them at Any time.

Looking for a place that Won't charge High Monthly fees, and maybe a couple of Free Trades thrown in there.

and NO I will NOT be buying ANY Penny Stocks.....

I use Schwab for both my trading and 401K. I think they charge $7 a month for my 401K account. There is no charge for my personal trading account. No free trades, $9/trade. I never have any problem with them. Customer service reps are available to answer all your questions 24/7.

Never heard of buyandhold.

IMO, I dont think buy and hold longterm is a good idea for the next 5-10 years.

Buying and holding for the past 10 has essentially left me flat, actually a I have less than what I put in.

I couldve made more money betting that cash or sticking it under my pillow FWIW BAS.

I have done pretty good in the past 10+ Years holding Long Term.
I've owned 4 Stocks in that time frame, and My Only mistake was selling one of them ( at a very good Profit ) Only to see if I would have held on to it longer...
I would have made a Huge profit. But that's why I feel stocks are a Gamble... and i can't take it back now.

My Stock portfolio, if you want to call it that ( currently holding 3 ) is making money.

I want to play around with some stocks on my own, something the Wife doesn't know about. Have some extra Cash.... so if I can take that Extra Money, make a few bucks... it will an Extra Bonus to my Family when that 'time" comes around.

I know to some, this sounds Stupid. But it's something I always wanted to do.

Yeah of course I've heard of Schwab. I'm probably better off dealing with a company like them. Who has been around forever.
So when you say your Personal Trading account.... Does that mean you make your trades Yourself ? or do you have to go through a Broker ?

Because I already have that.... looking to do it myself and save some money on the Comm.

Check out scottburns.com. He is big on index funds w/ a low expense charge.

I have done better with his method than I have with tradeing.

IMHO, after reading your comments here for a few years, you will have better luck with sports gambling than with stock tradeing. I know that I do and your sports knowlege is far superior to mine.

I buy/sell my own picks, there is no broker involved, just trading fee.

It would probably take you a few days to go through verification procedure like bank account ...etc before you can deposit and trade.

They parter with TurboTax this year which allows users to export tax statements from Schwab into Turbotax without having to enter individual transaction manually, I'm having a problem how to figure out how it works, been on the phone with the service rep, he can't help me either, it's probably new to him as well. WTF!!!!
